Inter-house sports competition is one of the extracurricular activities available to students in both primary and secondary school or at the international level. Although the goal of inter-house sports competition is to showcase kids’ athletic abilities (and thereby catch them while they are still young), it may also be a very hilarious and laughter-inducing occasion. It’s possible to make it even more entertaining!
Aside from typical sports, these are a few of the most amusing or comedic games that may be seen during an inter-house sporting event and are guaranteed to make onlookers laugh their ribs out.
- The Bag Race: Candidates stand in a sack and beg to run after the starting pistol is fired. The humorous part is that the lack of room in the sack to pace the leg causes many contestants to tumble multiple times before the race is completed.
- Daddies/Mummies Race: The two races (daddies race and mummies race) that involve parents of the students/pupils coming to the track to run are usually the event’s conclusion. The amusing aspect of this race is that parents of all shapes and sizes, as well as fit and unfit parents, are encouraged to participate.
- Family Relay Race: Families with children of similar ages who are school pupils/students are chosen to compete in a four-by-four relay race. Another game in which fans scream and cheer for their favorite family.
- Staff Race: This is a race in which all of an institution’s employees gather at the track to compete. The odd thing about this race is that it includes both thin and fat people, as well as fit and unfit people.
- Old Boys/Girls Race: This is a race in which all of a school’s alumni gather at the track to compete. This race is amusing since it is similar to the Staff Race.
- Catching The School Bus: Contestants must come out wearing only their underwear (boxers, tights, and singlets), and the contender who dresses up best, wears their school bags, runs off first, and gets to the school bus or finish line first wins.
- Threading The Needle: This is another inter-house sports event that can be rather amusing; it involves contestants passing a specific amount of thread through needles.
- Wheeling The Tyre: Okay, seriously, this is always hilarious, especially when contestants’ tires collide and cause blockages in each other’s tracks. In this race, abandoned vehicle tires or motorbike tires are used; it’s a lot of fun. | Webemtech
The Skipping Race entails each contestant skipping towards the finish line with a skipping rope in hand.
- The three-legged race: In this event, two participants from the same team have one of their eight legs attached to the other’s left leg, and other teams competing in the three-legged race must do the same so that the candidates can run on three legs.
- The Lime and Spoon Race: Each contender will dash to the finish line with a lime in a spoon in this amusing race. (List of Global of competitions)
- The Candle Race: Instead of running, the contenders walk. They walk carefully to the finish line, holding a lit candle in one hand and guarding it against the breeze, for a blown-out candle disqualifies a competitor from the race.
- One Leg Race: participants sprint with only their right leg while holding their left leg up with their hand.
- Filling the Container Race: participants must fill a container (bowel or cup) with water to the brim with a sponge, then race to the finish line with the container still filled.
- Bursting balloons: This activity is usually reserved for younger children in adventurers or basic one programs. Contestants are given balloons with various house colors and asked to burst balloons of their house color. The winner is the one who bursts the most.
- Picking the balls: This is similar to bursting a balloon, however, the contestants are blinded and must choose balls into the basket they are holding. The person who picks the most balls is declared the winner.
