How To Verify Your Website With Search Engines
Having your website verified with a search engine is a good way to generate traffic to your website through search results.
This process is what is called search engine optimization (SEO). you need to do this so that search engines can index the content
of your website in such a way that people visiting search engines can visit your website when they type in keywords that are related
to the content on your website.
To verify your website with a search engine, you need to install The Yoast plugin and should know how to set it up. if you don’t know
how to do that, you can read this article called Yoast plugin-How to set up.
How to Verify Your website with search engines
we are going to be learning how to verify our website with the following search engines:
In order to verify your website with these search engines:
- Log into your WordPress dashboard
- Hover your mouse on SEO
- Click On General
- select the fourth tab called webmaster tools
- you will then see four search engines (Baidu, Bing, google, Yandex)
- Click on the link below each search engine to use the tools as shown below
How To Verify Your Website With Bing search engine
- Click on the Bing webmaster tool link as shown in the image below
- you will be taken to the Bing webmaster tool
- click on get started
- select the account you want to use to sign up e.g. Microsoft, Google, Facebook
- at the right-hand option, where you have to add your site manually, enter your website URL. e.g. https://www.webemtech.com.ng
- click on add
- Select a verification method
XML File
*HTML meta tag
*Add CNAME records to DNS - Select to verify through HTML meta tag. if you want to use an XML file, you will be required to download the HTML file and upload it to the root folder of your domain
- After clicking on the HTML meta tag, you will be provided with the meta tag to past at the head section of your website. copy the code to your clipboard
- Go back to the webmaster tool from your WordPress dashboard and paste the meta tag and the field provided for bing
- Click on save
- Go back to the Bing webmaster tool from where you copied the meta tag and click on verify
- you will get a congratulatory message of a successful site addition as shown below
- Click On Done
- You will be taken to the Bing webmaster Tool for further settings
- Click on sitemap to submit your website sitemap
What is a sitemap: sitemap are links that link to different parts of your website that contains contents.

How to find your website sitemap
- log in to your WordPress dashboard
- hover your mouse on SEO
- Click on General
- Click On Features
- click on the question mark on XML sitemap
- Click on see the XML sitemap
- you will be directed to where you will see all the sitemaps you have on your website
- In continuation, copy each of the sitemaps and paste one after the other in the Bing sitemap submission box
- After pasting each sitemap, click on submit to authenticate.
Hint: your sitemap should look like this:https://www.yourdomain.com/sitemap.xml, https://www.yourdomain.com/post-sitemap.xml, etc. - after submitting your sitemap, the next feature at the left panel is the URL inspection. This feature is used to check if a URL in your website has been indexed in the Bing search result page or not. it is also used to hasten the indexing process
- Click on the URL inspection panel
- Copy more than 40 URL at a time
- after that click on submit
Hint: manually submitting your website URL will help hasten the indexing process of your website
After that, Relax for Bing to index your contents.
Google Verification
- Click on the Google webmaster tool link below the Bing webmaster tool
- You will be taken to the page shown below:
Google also has various verification methods:
*HTML file upload
*HTML tag
*Domain Name provider
*Google Analytics
*Google Tag Manager
- The easiest process here is the HTML tag just as we did during Bing verification
- So, click on HTML tag
- Copy the HTML tag provided
- Go back to your SEO webmaster tool and paste it into the Google webmaster text box and click on save
- Come back to the Google webmaster central and click on verify
- You will receive a congratulatory message of successful verification.
- Click on the search console to start submitting your website sitemap.

Yandex Verification
- Click on the Yandex webmaster tool link below the Google webmaster tool
- Enter your site address
- select the HTML tag verification process
- copy the HTML tag and past in the SEO Yandex text area
- Go back to the Yandex webmaster tool website and click on verify
- Follow the suit to add your website sitemaps….
Yahoo verification
Yahoo works in hand with the Bing search engine. so once you have done all the needful in Bing search engine, your website content will start appearing in yahoo search engine soon enough
Ask verification
Ask.com automatically searches for web content online. You do not need to perform any further steps just make sure that your Robot.txt is properly written to allow for robot crawling on them.
