The Alex Otti Foundation (AOF) undergraduate scholarship is now available, and interested students are encouraged to apply for the Foundation’s Tertiary Education Scholarships for the academic year 2021/2022.
Applications must be submitted by Saturday, December 31, 2021, at midnight. Any application that is not completely completed by the deadline will be rejected.
As a result, the Foundation is now accepting applications for the 2022/2023 edition of its undergraduate scholarship program. The plan was created to provide financial assistance to poor students from Abia State who are descendants of or now reside in the state.
Scholarships will be given out based on a strong academic background, leadership potential, and a demonstrated desire to apply what they’ve learned to help others. Winners should use their abilities and expertise to improve the lives of others once their studies are over. The Foundation hopes its scholarship recipients to develop into a strong network of leaders who will individually and collectively contribute to the well-being of Abia State and Nigeria in general.
Successful candidates must maintain a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of at least 3.5 (every session) for those studying in universities (or its equivalent for those studying in other tertiary institutions) to keep the Scholarship until they graduate.
Eligibility for the Alex Otti Foundation Scholarship
CAN ANYONE APPLY?
Students enrolled in any government-owned higher institution in Nigeria in their second year (200 level).
In his or her first academic session, the candidate must have had a CGPA of at least 3.5 – for universities (or its equivalent, for other tertiary institutions) (that is, First Year).
WHO SHOULD NOT SUBMIT AN APPLICATION?
Existing Alex Otti Foundation students’ siblings (children born to the same parents) are not eligible and will not be until their sibling’s current Scholarship has completed its term.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Candidates must submit a statement of results for the first academic session (First Year) signed by the Department/Administrative Faculty’s Officer (who rightfully is a representative of the registrar in the department or faculty).
- To verify he or she presently resides in Abia State, candidates must provide a letter of recognition from their community/religious organization leader or a three-month power utility bill.
- Candidates must submit a 1200-word essay divided into three (3) parts in which they explain: (a) their nuclear family and how they fit into it; (b) a moment when they were a part of a community and what they contributed to it; and (c) how they feel about giving back to society.
- Applicants must present a valid form of identification.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION FOR APPLICANTS
- Residents of Abia State are eligible for the scholarship. This means that there is no distinction between individuals who are native to the state and those whose ancestors came from other states. Even if you are studying elsewhere in Nigeria, you are eligible as long as you live in the state.
- Indigent students are individuals whose families cannot finance tertiary education on their own. Those who can afford tertiary education should avoid applying for this scholarship as a way to give back to society.
- Due to the large number of entries submitted in each edition, only those who pass the first round of screening will be contacted.
